Name of Assignment: Tattoo Design Contest Subject: Art Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Getzen
In this assignment, each student in all of Ms. Getzen's art classes was tasked with designing a tattoo for Mr. Adam, and our criteria was that it had to be squid related.
This assignment addressed my thinking and problem-solving and my self-directional skills. This was my first time ever having drawn an animal like a squid, so it was definitely a challenge for me, which exercised my thinking and problem-solving skills, and I had to stay focused and on task to finish my drawing in time, despite wanting to quit several different times, which exercised my self-directional skills.
I'm really proud of everything about this piece. Considering it's one of the first animals I've ever drawn, I think it came out really good and I had a lot of fun with it.
I learned how to work around the feeling that I was doing something wrong with my art, because, in art especially, those kinds of things are entirely subjective and shouldn't prevent you from finishing a piece.
I was terrified the entire time I was working on it that I was going to mess it up and it would no longer look like a squid, so trying to get past that fear was probably the hardest part. Actually drawing a squid was definitely the next hardest thing though.
I would try to use better quality markers so that the coloring looked better, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.
I've never learned how to draw an animal before, but since it's art related, this relates to what I've learned about the principles of design.
If I ever need to draw a squid again, I know how to now!
