What was the project? For this project, we had to pick a Spanish or Latin American historical figure and make a presentation on them. This presentation had to include the person's name, where they're from, the flag of the country they're from, their birth date (and death date if they're dead), when Independence Day is in their country of origin, why they're famous/important, 3 descriptions of the person, and three facts about them, and finally, four pictures. Four of the eight slides had to be in Spanish, but some English could be used on the "why this person is important" slide and the "the descriptions and facts" slide.
Why this project? I chose this project because I really like the person I chose and had a fair amount of fun making the presentation. Reading about my person was interesting and made me want to know more.
21st Century Skills Used: I used informational skills to research my person and the other facts I needed. I used communication skills to present my project to the class. I used self-directional skills by staying on task and getting the project done.
Growth Demonstrated: I showed my ability to research a person who is important to history, as well as my understanding of the assignment and my ability to present my work to the class in a manner worthy of a good grade.
Areas of Possible Growth: I don't know what went wrong, but I had a lot of trouble saying the Spanish words in my presentation that day. Since about half our project needed to be written and presented in Spanish, there were a lot of words that were being stumbled over. I got pretty embarrassed because I'm almost always better at saying Spanish words than that, but other than that little speedbump, I did good on this project.
