What was the project? In this project, we had to pick one current event article to make a presentation on. The article had to relate to our course content in biology and we had to explain the social justice of this event. I did my presentation on how humans are related to fish through millions of years of evolution.
Why this project? I chose this project because I was really proud of everything about it. Ms. Wilson and Ms. Herrin really liked it and I was proud of how I conveyed the information. It honestly made me feel really smart when I was making it, and again when I was presenting it. I had to do my presentation in person, which made me a little more nervous than I usually am, but I think I did pretty well on the presenting, despite that.
21st Century Skills Used: First and foremost, I used informational skills to find my current event and make a project on it that displays my understanding of the article. I also used self-directional skills to get the project done, communication skills to present my project to the class, and finally, global awareness skills because the presentation was on a current event.
Growth Demonstrated: I really had to look for a current event that related to our course content this quarter, and then to find one that actually interested me. Once I did, I had to formulate how I wanted to have the words displayed on screen in a way that wasn't overwhelming to the class, but in a way that I would be able to go through clearly. I then struggled with the name of the primary fish I talked about, as well as a scientist who contributed to the study.
Areas of Possible Growth: I'd like to remember the project sooner next time so I don't have to worry about when it's due. I ended up having to reschedule my presentation because I blanked on it over the weekend and didn't have it finished in time. Thankfully, I got it done the week after and got full credit for it, as well as having a presentation I was proud of.
