Name of Assignment: Chapter 6 Journal Subject: PSY 100 Facilitator/Teacher: Dr. Fox
Description of Work/Assignment:
Each week, we have to write 250-300 words reflecting on the chapter we worked on that week. This particular journal was on learning.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I would say that this assignment represents global awareness. I chose this skill because we discussed how different cultures and backgrounds learn differently, and we learned about the people who contributed to studies on learning and how their cultural background shaped their theories. I think this goes for all of psychology anyway.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
This journal is the longest one I've written in the 13 weeks of class. Even though we only really need to write 250-300 words, if we write over 300, we get extra credit depending on how much more we write. This journal was 971 words and I got a full point of extra credit for it.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
Learning about the origin of the theories of learning involved learning about their creators and how their lives shaped their outlook on life.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
Writing the journals tends to take a while because of how long they end up being. I also sometimes have trouble making longer journals if I'm writing them on a day when typing is hard, which happens some days.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I might be able to write more if I really wanted to, but I don't think I would change anything. I'm really proud of this journal.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
Almost everything I'm currently learning in psychology is new to me, including the majority of this chapter, so all of the content was new and didn't relate to anything I've done previously.
How can you apply this to future learning?
Any future psychology classes I might take (which I'm almost inclined to) will almost certainly talk about the things I learn in this class, but even just for the rest of the semester. We've already brought concepts up from chapter 6 in the chapters we talked about after it.
