What was the project? In this project, we went to instructables.comand chose a project to do. The requirements for the project were that it had to be a 9th grade level project, it had to take two weeks, it had to be doable, and it had to be safe. I chose to make a potted fairy garden.
Why this project? I had a lot of fun with this project (other than the transportation aspect of it), and I'm really proud of it. It was fun to make and I'd want to make something like this again in the future.
21st Century Skills Used: I used thinking and problem solving skills, as well as self-directional skills. I used thinking and problem solving skills to piece together the pot and learn how to use the clay to the best of my abilities. I used self-directional skills by staying on task and getting the project done.
Growth Demonstrated: I can confidently say that I know how to break a terracotta pot now. I learned how to use clay and I discovered how fragile it is when drying, as well as how difficult it is to clue clay with nothing over it. I had to work with what I had when I broke the pot since it didn't break the way I really wanted it to.
Areas of Possible Growth: I'd like to be better prepared for the project next time. I need to get my materials earlier and remember to take pictures for the slideshow part of it. All and all, I really enjoyed this project.
