Name of Assignment: Finance Presentation Subject: Junior Seminar Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Cassie
In this assignment, each person (some of us had a partner, like I did, but there were only about four pairs) had to pick a slide on a group presentation that had a topic relating to something around finance. All of the topics were ones that our class said we wanted to learn about earlier in the year. Once we picked our slide, we had to research our topic and make a mini presentation (a "Topic 101" if you will) about it. We then went through the slideshow with each person or pair presenting their topic.
The obvious skill addressed in this project is the financial, economic, and business literacy skill, but the other skills addressed are information and communication skills. The financial, economic, and business literacy skill was addressed because the entire slideshow was about finance and economics, while I used information skills when researching my topic, and communication skills when writing my information on the slide and then presenting it to the class.
I'm most proud of how the information I put on my slide. I feel like it concisely explains credit scores and how to build credit, which was the topic I chose.
I improved on my financial, economic, and business literacy skill because I had to go learn about credit enough that I could educate my classmates on it as well, which requires a certain level of understanding on a topic that I feel I achieved.
I would have to say presenting it, just because I get terrible anxiety about presenting, even when I volunteer. Other than that, I had to do my slide by myself, even though I was technically partnered with Emerson since she was absent for most of the time we had the project assigned. While it didn't prevent me from getting the work done and presenting it well, it did cost me a bit of my grade because I'm not the best at making informative slideshows visually appealing.
I'd try to make it more visually appealing so that I can keep the points that I lost from that.
Academically, I don't think I've ever learned about financial things, so this is new for me in school. My parents have been trying to teach me about various financial things for the past few years so that I can be a financially and economically smart young adult.
This may not help me with future learning in school, but this will definitely help me whenever I apply for a credit card or if I ever apply for a loan or mortgage.
